Haslet is a city in Denton and Tarrant Counties in the U.S. state of Texas, settled between 1880 and 1883. The population was 1,134 at the 2000 census.

Geography

Haslet is located at 32°57'35?N, 97°20'24?W (32.959733, -97.340028)[3].

According to the United States Census Bureau, the town has a total area of 7.5 square miles (19.4 km²), all of it land.

Demographics

As of the census[1] of 2000, there were 1,134 people, 388 households, and 330 families residing in the town. The population density was 151.2 people per square mile (58.4/km²). There were 402 housing units at an average density of 53.6/sq mi (20.7/km²). The racial makeup of the city was 94.27% White, 1.15% Native American, 0.62% Asian, 2.82% from other races, and 1.15% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 7.41% of the population.

There were 388 households out of which 43.3% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 77.6% were married couples living together, 5.2% had a female householder with no husband present, and 14.7% were non-families. 10.8% of all households were made up of individuals and 3.9% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.92 and the average family size was 3.15.

In the town the population was spread out with 28.1% under the age of 18, 5.7% from 18 to 24, 32.7% from 25 to 44, 27.0% from 45 to 64, and 6.4% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 38 years. For every 100 females there were 102.1 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 97.3 males.

The median income for a household in the town was $76,222, and the median income for a family was $77,979. Males had a median income of $51,442 versus $31,188 for females. The per capita income for the town was $28,207. About 2.2% of families and 2.6% of the population were below the poverty line, including 2.2% of those under age 18 and none of those age 65 or over.
